Sebring Middle School Students “Unwrap a Tobacco-Free Future” with Holiday SWAT Event
December 15, 2025
Students at Sebring Middle School gathered on December 11th for a festive and impactful event hosted by Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT), a youth-led group dedicated to promoting healthy, tobacco-free lifestyles. The Christmas themed event, titled “Unwrap a Tobacco-Free Future,” combined holiday fun with important peer-to-peer education about the risks of tobacco and vaping.
Held after school, the event featured interactive activities including a holiday photo booth, a snowball toss game, and the popular “Unwrap the Facts” challenge, where students opened wrapped gifts revealing tobacco related facts. Attendees were also invited to decorate a Tobacco-Free Christmas Tree by pledging to remain tobacco-free, reinforcing positive choices as the new year approaches.

In addition to games and prizes, students enjoyed free pizza and hot chocolate while learning how tobacco use and vaping can negatively impact their health. SWAT members led conversations throughout the event, encouraging classmates to make informed decisions and consider joining the group to become advocates for change on their campus.
“Events like this show that prevention can be fun, engaging, and led by youth,” said Amanda John, SWAT Coordinator. “By creating a positive environment, we’re helping students understand that living tobacco-free is not only healthier, but empowering.”
The event successfully attracted students from across grade levels and helped recruit new SWAT members who will continue tobacco prevention efforts throughout the school year. Organizers hope the holiday celebration will leave a lasting impression and inspire students to start the new year committed to a tobacco-free future.
