Partnership Spotlight: Chief Karl Hoglund
March 15, 2026
One of the strengths of the Highlands County Tobacco-Free Partnership is the diverse group of community leaders who come together to support healthier outcomes for our residents. This quarter, we are pleased to highlight Chief Karl Hoglund, Chief of Police for the Sebring Police Department.

Chief Hoglund has served as Sebring’s Chief of Police since 2017 and has spent the majority of his career with the department, working in patrol, investigations, and administrative leadership before becoming chief. A longtime member of the community, he moved to Sebring as a teenager, graduated from Sebring High School, and later returned home after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves to begin his law enforcement career.
Through his leadership role, Chief Hoglund understands that public safety and public health often go hand in hand. Efforts that reduce tobacco and nicotine use, especially among youth, help create safer, healthier communities. His perspective and support bring valuable insight to the Highlands County Tobacco-Free Partnership as we work together to encourage prevention, education, and positive choices across our county.
We appreciate Chief Hoglund’s commitment to collaboration and his willingness to support the Partnership’s mission to build a healthier Highlands County.
The Highlands County Tobacco-Free Partnership brings together community leaders, organizations, and residents who share a common goal of reducing the impact of tobacco and nicotine use in our community. If you are interested in learning more or joining the conversation, we invite you to attend our next meeting on June 3rd at 9:00 a.m. in the County Engineer Board Room, 501 S. Commerce Avenue. New voices are always welcome.
